As of this writing, we have raised over $87,000 toward our banquet goal of $100,000. We are incredibly grateful for your support which enables us to expand our work in the schools and our peer support groups in our community. We believe we can reach our goal of $100,000 by the end of December. Thanks again for all the ways you support our grief ministry! |
Thank you table hosts for making our lunch and dinner events so successful. |

Through our BEST Groups program, we offered special activities for each student in recognition of National Children's Grief Awareness Day. From decorating cookies, to making bookmarks, each student enjoyed a sweet snack and remembered their loved ones. |
Did you know that we now provide over 3,000 individually wrapped snacks for BEST Groups during one semester? That’s a lot of munchies! To stock up for spring groups, we have created a Heart of the Cumberland Wish List on Amazon to give you an opportunity to purchase snacks and have them delivered to us for distribution to the schools. Follow this link to purchase snacks and other miscellaneous supplies for our BEST Groups students this spring. |

Volunteer Spotlight Sissy Vick |
Sissy has been involved with Heart of the Cumberland since 2010 after attending one of the first fundraising events. She began her volunteer “career” by helping Paula King organize and facilitate BEST Groups in the schools. Then she became more involved with volunteering in the office and organizing community groups, even holding an interim position as Program Director when we were short-staffed. She has been instrumental in writing and editing revisions to all our curricula. Sissy currently serves on the Board of Directors as Treasurer and has also served numerous times as a community groups facilitator and table host for the annual banquet.
Sissy is married to Chris Vick, has two sons, Hunter and Micah, and is the proud grandmother to one grandson, Hudson. Sissy has a passion for flower gardening and plants thousands of seeds each spring to grow beautiful cut flowers which she generously shares with others throughout the year. Thank you, Sissy, for your dedication to this ministry! |
